When moving a courtier from the gate to the bottom row of castle cards, the cards do not get placed in my personal domain, and the existing card in my personal domain does not get moved down to my lantern row. This applies for every bottom row card in the castle. But the middle row cards work as intended and are moved down to my personal domain when I moved my courtier up.
