Many boardgames include elo scores. Many players like to have high elo scores - and to keep 'em!
Being afraid to lose 'em, elo often is disabled or the players create multiple accounts or worser fake it by playing against theirselves or the worst case: stay inactive.
The end justifies the means.
I know this has only narcissistic reasons, but nevertheless... that's why we seek for achievements, right? ;)
For me it's very legitimate to feel good if you achieved something very hard - and to feel proud when you get the respect from others.
If the players maximum elo score is displayed, it is kept safe and warm and alive - no need for sadness or one of the above specified alternatives.
For example, my maximum elo score for Carcassonne is atm 787. Nowadays it's gone, because I always play with elo enabled. But I would still feel like a master (>700), even If i crashed down like Ikarus.
I simply may continue playing...
Because what one has achieved one will ever have achieved - and everyone can see it. -

Raportų istorija
If questions, just ask me. :)
Hi everyone.
You can access your maximum ELO from your player game statistics (Premium only).
The maximum ELO has no real significance: current ELO is way better to determine the player level, and number of games played is better to determine player experience.
I know that what you are trying to say here is that the ELO is not good for competition, and we agree with that. We are going to introduce another system for the competitive play on BGA at some point, and it will fix this problem.
Scrolling down for hundred or thousands of recorded tables is the only way I found out so far.
"The maximum ELO has no real significance: current ELO is way better to determine the player level" - this I would'nt sign, because:
a) Following your logic, elo per se has no real significance... - and direct encounters are the best way (and maybe only) way to compare with others and thus determine the player level.
b) The maximum elo has a significance on an emotional dimension. You feel happy when you see it. It reminds you of where you were, how far you came. I really thing it is very similar to every other achievements, the same joy. And I consider feelings to be a real thing. ;)
"I know that what you are trying to say here is that the ELO is not good for competition" - this again I wouldn't sign.
What I meant to say i, that for many players the maximum ever achieved elo score is like an achievement itself.
People can see it, people want to break their own records, people want to compare and are eager to reach a higher maximum elo score than others (compare <-> competition).
And if it is already displayed somewhere, why is it then too difficult to link it to somewhere where one can see it directly? E.g. at this mouse-over current-elo-information-screen (see screenshot)?
There are several players who took a timeout, so their ELO ist quite low. Especially for tournaments it is very helpful to easily recognize where a player comes from. I myself use different strategies when playing a 200-ELO-opponent than playing a 600-ELO-player.
Too bad this suggestion has been rejected already!
It's completely untrue. I am a Premium member and I cannot access to my maximum ELO for no game I’ve played. This NUMBER is NEVER displayed.
Calculating this value is a basic operation: pretending that it would take a lot of time for developers is not very flattering for them.
