I performed a super long sequence to get to this issue, so I can't be sure what if any of it is relevant. I also made a video: streamable.com/995gk1

Step by step:

- I selected a bookshelf action with the special effect of paying three coins to place a second tile.
- I clicked the +1 power button.
- I clicked the "activate special effect" button.
- I selected a bookshelf spot in the third row and one in the first row.
- The second tile was my ninth overall, so I unlocked a master card.
- I picked the master card that allows me to travel 5 spots without paying travel cost.
- I moved my scientist across a bonus token and onto the master spot.
- I picked the master card that allows me to perform a technology action of power 3.
- I moved my student onto the spot that allows me to perform a bookshelf action of power 3.
- I selected a bookshelf spot in the second row.
--> The bookshelf spot got deselected, but no tile moved onto it and I did not get a button to confirm my action and am now stuck.

Loading the report into a game resulted in the action going through correctly. I think in your case a page reload should fix the issue. Could you confirm that it does? I'm still trying to understand and fix it for the future.

I'm afraid I can't try anymore because I got kicked out of the game for taking too long, though I don't think I remember trying a refresh directly after encountering the bug, which is admittedly dumb, but it is what it is. It's interesting that you can't reproduce it! I wonder if there are more conditions that have to be met for the bug to occur. I'll let you know if I ever stumble across it again.

If a reload fixes it (or loading the game from the report does) it means that the issue was the client side (basically the browser) getting a dirty game state, not the server (and if you reload the page, you get a blank slate and start over, so it fixes this kind of bug). The reason is hard to diagnose is because it's caused by something that was left dirty in the long chain you did (some rogue variable not getting reset or something similar), so unless I specifically replicate that same chain on the client, it's likely to never happen for single turns consisting of a simple action).

I'm investigating, in the meanwhile, if you do stumble upon that bug again (I sure hope you don't!) and want to help, please send a bug report AFTER pressing the undo button! That way, the report gets sent to me with the situation at the start of the turn, before the bug occurred, so I can actually play your turn myself in the same way you did and hopefully spot the issue!

I will keep that in mind! I feel that there might be some significance to the fact that the bug occurred in the second bookshelf action within the same turn, which is super rare and can only happen with the use of a master card. But then again, who knows. I actually do hope I get to experience it again because I'm super curious about it. Shame that the game ended prematurely!

We saw similar issues with the +1 book action card in combination with a MASTER card that gets played as a result of the first book action.

Player was able to finally get it to work but only after reusing a page reload after the master was played and expending necessary potions before hand.

Hi charlimangy, I don't think this is an instance of the same issue, I could get it to work without trouble. If you experienced issues with this action, could you please file a separate ticket? I think yours is just an instance where the game lets you finish performing both your placements before asking for the second tile, as both tiles are inserted at the same time in the code, there is no real confusion on when the Master Card should be played.

Report closed automatically because it has not been upvoted or commented for a while.

Your bug has probably been fixed already, or was linked to a temporary failure of BGA service.

In any case, when filling a bug report, make sure to have an explicit title linked to the incident (ex: with error message), so other players can recognize it and vote for it.
